Pair of Old Rajasthani Brass Anklets or Arm Bangles Collectible Jewelry (#8425)
Pair of old brass anklets or armlets from Rajasthan. These are well-worn with visible age age and wear, including metal that has thinned due to many years of use. Traditionally, I believe, these are worn as anklets. The caveat, however, is that in order for these to slide onto your ankle, you need to get them over your heel and the top of your foot at the same time. The inner circumference on this pair is 12", therefore the circumference around the top of your foot to the bottom of your heel can be no larger than 12". Try sliding on a bangle onto your foot and you'll see what I mean about finding the widest part between the top of your foot and bottom of your heel. You could also use these as armbands, again depending on your measurements.
These are made of brass. The texture and pattern may be gajre (little balls) or may refer to snakeskin - I am not sure. These are heavy and solid. Each one weighs just over 5 ounces/140 grams. The metal is a champagne tone - it's not overtly golden nor silver. There is oxidation and discoloration due to many years of use. The metal is rounded and smooth.
Different monitors and phone apps show colors differently. I do my best to accurately document color using both photos and written descriptions. If you have any questions, please send me a message.
