Vintage Kashmiri Tribal Button Decoration Pendant Rare (#9)
This is a beautiful, vintage Kashmiri button decoration - this is inserted into buttonholes on traditional ethnic clothing. You could use this on tribal costuming, for home decor, or just add to your collection. The entire piece is about 17.75" long. There are three buttons on the back. The markings and symbols are made with intention - often used as a means to ward off evil and protect the wearer from harm; there are stylized evil eye patterns and a variety of floral designs as well. The settings are made of plastic. The plastic jewels are scratched and worn - visible in photos. This is heavy - it's 9.5 ounces/266 grams. The big round dangles make a sound with movement. The sound is used to distract and ward off the evil eye. The metal is a champagne color due to copper content.
